The Montparnasse tower dominates the area from the top of its 210 meters heigh. This area is located at the North of the district, with many metro lines to access it.
This area was frequented by many famous artists of the XXth century: Picasso, Soutine, Fujita, Modigliani, Brancusi, Braque, Man Ray.... The artists' workshops remain from this period, as well as restaurants, cafes and famous breweries (le Closerie des Lilas, le Dôme, la Coupole). There are many points of interest: the panoramic point of observation on top of the Montparnasse Tower, the Montparnasse cemetery, Bourdelle museum, the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation, the catacombs, the Cartier Foundation for contemporary art.
Trains from this station go to Val de Loire, West and South-West of France, Spain and Portugal. The upfront of the train station, also named Raoul Dautry Place, regularly hosts great events.
